In Germany, a child was infected with monkeypox for the first time.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (RKI) said in a report released on the 9th (local time) that a child was infected with monkeypox for the first time.
The four-year-old lives with two adults infected with monkeypox in Portzheim, Baden-Württemberg, southwestern Germany.
According to the competent health authorities, the child was preemptively tested when a case of monkey head infection in the household was confirmed and confirmed positive, but there are no symptoms. It was confirmed that there were no close contacts other than households.
Last week, two male minors aged 15 and 17 were confirmed to be infected with monkeypox for the first time as minors in Germany, respectively, and monkey head lance seems to be spreading to the low age group.
So far, a total of 2,916 cases of monkey head infection have been reported in Germany. Except for seven women, all of them are men, and this is the first time that a child has been infected.
Monkey cephalopods are transmitted through close physical contact, and viruses can survive on the surface for a considerable period of time.
RKI said, "There needs to be close contact to cause transmission," adding, "Until now, most of the transmission has been mainly due to sexual activity, and most of the infected people have no serious symptoms."
According to RKI, most of the course after infection with monkey head lance progresses weakly and heals itself. Symptoms include fever, headache, and skin rashes that begin on the face and spread to other parts of the body. Children or those with weak immune systems are likely to switch to severe symptoms.
The World Health Organization (WHO) recently announced that very few children were infected with monkey head lance during the global spread.
